Airline crew take on new mission in Afghanistan evacuation

US airline crews participating in the Afghanistan evacuation efforts expressed gratification at the opportunity to help so many people start new lives. “This is where we get the chance to do something that really makes a difference,” United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby told employees at Dulles. A member of Delta Air Lines’ communications team also described being aboard a flight that brought evacuees from Germany’s Ramstein Air Base to Dulles International Airport and how the airline facilitated the travelers’ journey to the US.
