Some of the 17,500 American Airlines employees who were involuntarily furloughed last October are receiving paychecks due to the December coronavirus relief legislation, but have not been recalled back to their jobs yet due to dramatically reduced flight schedules. “Bringing nearly 19,000 team members back to work is a complex process and will take time,” CEO Doug Parker and President Robert Isom said in a joint letter to employees, adding: “While pay and benefits will be restored right away, people will be asked to return to the operation in phases.”
