Airline execs credit staffing, planning for smooth holiday

US airlines’ efforts to streamline and fully staff operations along with favorable weather facilitated a smooth Thanksgiving travel period, executives from Southwest Airlines and American Airlines said in interviews. “We did have good weather over Thanksgiving, but I’m just really proud of everybody,” said incoming Southwest CEO Robert Jordan. “We averaged 90% to 95% load factors, which is just terrific.”
