Some people will do anything to avoid paying money.

Well, this teen tried to trick the airline in order to save some cash, but it cost her more.

A 19-year-old Australian girl, traveling through Australia on break, realized that on her flight home she was going to be over the weight and tried to avoid it. So she took the excess clothing out of her bag and put on all the shirts and whatever else was in there – some six layers of clothing.

“I’m small and petite but I looked like the exact opposite,” she said.

It didn’t work.

Not only did she have to pay the overweight baggage fee, but the airline find her an undisclosed amount. The girl even tried to stuff an iPad in her clothing on her body to avoid the fees. It was almost comical. She compared herself to Augustus Gloop, the overweight character from the film, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Willy Wonka movies.

“Everyone in line was staring at us and laughing at us, it was kind of embarrassing,” she said. “People were annoyed that we were holding the plane up.”

The airline in question was the budget carrier Jetstar.

Ancillary fees by the airlines, such as excess baggage, have been much debated in the last decade.
