Airlines invest in efficiency, sustainable fuel

Airlines improved their fuel efficiency more than 135% between 1978 and 2019, and continue to invest in new technologies and sustainable aviation fuel. “We are and have been singularly focused on fuel efficiency, which equates to carbon efficiency,” Nancy Young, vice president for environmental affairs at Airlines for America, said at the CAPA Centre for Aviation’s virtual Environmental Sustainability event.
