Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci said he is “cautiously optimistic” about the latest developments around 5G deployment following Tuesday’s announcement from AT&T and Verizon, saying that they would temporarily delay the activation of 5G service around certain airports. “There’s still work to be done,” Minicucci said, stating that the Federal Aviation Administration will need to conduct an analysis “airport by airport, runway by runway” to examine potential 5G interference with aircraft radar altimeter instruments.
