Alaska Airlines exec outlines sustainability goals

Alaska Airlines has set the goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2040 and becoming a more fuel-efficient airline by 2025, Diana Birkett Rakow, the airline’s vice president of public affairs and sustainability, said in Glasgow, Scotland, where the Alaska jet housing the ecoDemonstrator project landed for an event. The jet tests new technology to improve fuel efficiency, but Alaska’s near-term plan rests more on sustainable aviation fuel and carbon offsets, Birkett Rakow said.
