Alaska Airlines will no longer use plastic water bottles on flights, switching entirely to cartons from Boxed Water Is Better and recyclable paper cups. “By and large, plastic water bottles were the largest contributor of waste,” said Todd Traynor-Corey, managing director of guest products for the airline. Traynor-Corey estimates the change would remove an estimated 22 million plastic cups and 32 million plastic bottles, or 1.8 million pounds of single-use plastic, from Alaska flights through 2022.
