Alaska Airlines’ “True North” program aims to increase diversity in the cockpit by providing financial assistance and a career pathway to aspiring pilots from historically Black colleges. “When I became a pilot, I realized how few pilots looked like me,” said Alaska Capt. Ron Limes, who leads the Alaska program. “I am excited by this program because it will remove so many barriers — whether that be financial or otherwise — for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) pilots to have full and rewarding careers in aviation.”
