AmaWaterways Unveils Innovative Stateroom Upgrade Auction Program

AmaWaterways has introduced an exciting new Stateroom Upgrade Program, designed to provide travelers with an enhanced river cruise experience through an innovative online auction system. This program allows guests who have already booked a river cruise to bid for available stateroom upgrades, offering greater flexibility and personalization for their journey.

The Stateroom Upgrade Program is available for travelers from the United States on all AmaWaterways ships operating in Europe, Egypt, and the Mekong River. Initially, the program was soft-launched for guests aboard the AmaMagna, the cruise line’s largest European river vessel, and is now open to all eligible guests.

Approximately 85 days before their cruise departure, travelers will receive an email detailing their upgrade options. Guests can then visit AmaWaterways’ website to browse available stateroom upgrades and place their bids. The bidding process remains open until one week before the cruise’s departure date.

If a bid is successful, guests and their travel advisors will be notified via email, and guests will be charged the amount they bid for the upgrade. If a bid is not accepted, guests will remain in their originally booked stateroom with no additional charges. Travel advisors will receive a 10 percent commission on accepted upgrades.

Kristin Karst, co-founder and executive vice president of AmaWaterways, expressed the company’s commitment to enhancing guest experiences: “We are dedicated to offering innovative and personalized options to our travelers. This new bidding process empowers guests to select upgrades that match their desires and budget, ensuring a more customized and memorable cruise experience.”
