American Airlines hosted its inaugural Legacy of Firsts event to honor Black aviators and founders of the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals. The 2022 event recognized Capt. Dave Harris, who became the first Black pilot for a major passenger airline when American hired him in 1964.
