American Airlines invests in electric air taxi company
American Airlines is investing $25 million in Vertical Aerospace and plans to buy as many as 250 of the electric-powered air taxis the company is developing. “Emerging technologies are critical in the race to reduce carbon emissions, and we are excited to partner with Vertical to develop the next generation of electric aircraft,” said Derek Kerr, American’s chief financial officer. Meanwhile, Archer Aviation, a partner of United Airlines, unveiled a prototype of its electric aircraft.
