American Airlines to upgrade cockpit displays on more than 100 Airbus A320s
Airbus and American Airlines have partnered to retrofit the cockpit displays of more than 100 Airbus A320 aircraft.
The companies will install an Enhanced Electronic Instrument System (EEIS2) LCD flight deck displays and new display computers.
The retrofit program will replace the current cathode ray tube displays and Display Management Computers found in the airline’s cockpit, maximizing fleet commonality, reducing maintenance costs, and saving weight per aircraft.
The program will be completed over several years. American Airlines currently has 399 A320 current engine option (ceo) and 124 new engine option (neo) aircraft in its fleet, with four A321neo and 50 Airbus A321XLR on order.
