American Cruise Lines has proudly christened its newest vessel, American Liberty, adding to its expanding fleet. The christening ceremony took place at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island, the traditional docking location for all of the company’s ships during visits to the city.

American Liberty, a 100-passenger Coastal Cat, marks the third ship in this category for the cruise line. The ship embarked on its inaugural journey along the popular “New England Islands” itinerary, which offers a round-trip from Providence. Following this, American Liberty will continue to operate on this route until September. Afterward, it will diversify its offerings with a range of East Coast itineraries, including the “Hudson River Fall Foliage” and the “Historic South & Golden Isles” cruises.

Clare Harington, Vice Commodore of the New York Yacht Club, served as the ship’s godmother, performing the traditional ceremony of breaking a bottle of Champagne against the ship’s hull.

“We are excited to build on our longstanding relationships in Newport and throughout many historic coastal towns along the Eastern Seaboard,” said Charles B. Robertson, President and CEO of American Cruise Lines.

American Liberty joins a growing fleet, with recent additions including the American Glory, welcomed in January, and the American Eagle, which joined last August. The upcoming American Legend, the fourth Coastal Cat, is scheduled to launch in November.

The American Liberty is part of the Project Blue Series, an initiative aimed at expanding the fleet with 12 new small ships, reinforcing American Cruise Lines’ commitment to providing unique and luxurious coastal experiences.
