Antigua’s Wadadli Cargo rebrands as Island Cargo

Wadadli Cargo (Antigua) has rebranded as Island Cargo ahead of its launch as it now wants to connect not just its home market of Antigua and Barbuda but the entire Caribbean with the United States.

“Wadadli Cargo started with a purpose and passion for improving the air cargo situation in Antigua, the home country of our founders and their family. What quickly became clear was the entire region has a need for a better air cargo solution. So, as part of expanding our market, we changed our name to not focus on only Antigua but the entire Caribbean, and we decided to go with Island Cargo,” Chief Executive J. Michael Johnson said via a press release.

The Antiguan start-up began preparations to launch in the second half of 2021 last year. While it initially touted the CRJ(F) as its preferred type, it has since adjusted its plans and said it would operate a leased B737-800 freighter and an owned ATR72-200(F). It has yet to confirm the identity of any of the aircraft or disclose a precise launch date. Island Cargo plans to operate daily or 2x daily services between the Caribbean islands and undisclosed destinations in the United States but has yet to apply for a foreign air carrier permit (FACP)
