App identifies safe spaces for Black LGBTQ people

Out in Tech and the National Black Justice Coalition are combating violence and hate toward the Black LGBTQ community through Lavender Book, an app that uses a crowdsourced search engine to map LGBTQ-friendly businesses and facilities, such as gender-neutral bathrooms. “I think it’s only going to just create a better experience for anybody that’s looking for services where they know they won’t be discriminated against,” said Peter Redmond of Out in Tech’s New York City chapter.
