Aqua Expeditions is set to expand its luxury cruise offerings with new sailings in East Africa starting December 2025. The cruise line will introduce four new itineraries ranging from five to 14 nights, exploring the stunning destinations of the Seychelles and Zanzibar, Tanzania.

To accommodate this expansion, Aqua Expeditions will add a new vessel to its fleet, increasing its total number of ships to six. This will include three river ships and three ocean ships. Further details about the new ship will be announced in the future.

Francesco Galli Zugaro, CEO and founder of Aqua Expeditions, expressed his excitement about the new venture: “It has always been a dream of mine to venture into East Africa and explore this part of the world on a luxury expedition ship. I am thrilled to showcase the beauty of the Indian Ocean and the renowned Aldabra Atoll. Few travelers have heard of or seen this magical place, home to over 150,000 giant tortoises. Often called the Galapagos of Africa, this island group boasts hundreds of species of flora and fauna, and some of the most extraordinary marine life in the world.”

The new itineraries will feature destinations such as Aldabra, Cosmoledo, Astove, Farquhar Atoll, Kilwa Kisiwani, Pemba, and the African Banks. Travelers will have the opportunity to witness diverse landscapes and wildlife, including giant tortoises and unique marine life.

Galli Zugaro highlighted the appeal of East Africa: “East Africa presents a compelling blend of familiar sights and unexplored frontiers. We encounter giant tortoises roaming beaches similar to those in the Galapagos, where we operate Aqua Mare. The region’s rich history, including remnants of an ancient spice trade, echoes the Spice Islands explored by Aqua Blu in Indonesia. Simultaneously, we will encounter sights previously unseen, from the elevated coral atoll of Aldabra to Seychelles’ unique marine life and reef walls reminiscent of the Grand Canyon.”

Aqua Expeditions’ new East Africa cruises promise to offer a blend of adventure and luxury, showcasing some of the most pristine and less-traveled locations on the globe.
