Asian billionaire Ambani buys Mandarin Oriental hotel

The Asian billionaire Mukesh Ambani has paid just more than $98 million for a controlling interest in New York City’s Mandarin Oriental hotel which, like most hotels, has suffered from the decline in travel during the coronavirus pandemic. A shareholder report in 2007 put the value of the hotel as high as $340 million.
