Avelo to Nearly Triple Delaware Destinations
This is like the sports equivalent of going from worst to first.
The state of Delaware, which didn’t even have airline service as recently as last year, will almost triple in size at its biggest airport in Wilmington.
You can thank Avelo Airlines for that.
The budget airline, which came on the Delaware scene last year with flights to five destinations, announced earlier this week that it would nearly triple in size to 14 cities from Wilmington.
It is the largest number of destinations ever offered at ILG.
“The strong demand we are generating out of the gate is a testament to the convenient, affordable, reliable and caring air service Avelo has introduced to the Delaware Valley. We are pleased with the enthusiastic reception Avelo has received since our airline took flight here in February,” said Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy in a statement. “I’m especially thankful for our dedicated and caring ILG-based Crewmembers who have brought Avelo’s presence here to life and look forward to welcoming even more folks to our team in the weeks and months ahead.”
Delaware Governor John Carney added, “We are grateful that Avelo will be expanding service here in Delaware, and we are excited to welcome more visitors to the First State. Thank you to Avelo for your continued partnership, and for providing passengers from our region with an affordable and convenient way to travel.”
Avelo will fly to South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach; Daytona Beach and Melbourne/Cocoa Beach in Florida; Raleigh Durham, Savannah, and, of all places, Wilmington, N.C., among others.
Some of the new routes start as soon as June 22.
