The comfort and flexibility of remote work appeals to many people, but Black women often find the model also helps them avoid workplace racism, according to Black women surveyed by Slack. Joselyn Ink works at a nonprofit in Los Angeles that “has a 100% turnover rate for Black staff” and says working remotely made it possible for her to walk away and calm down after a work meeting on racism made her feel uncomfortable.
