Build bridges to realize MLK’s “beloved community”
Ron Jones, executive director of Dialogues on Diversity, reminded the Indiana University Northwest community to strive for civil discourse with people who have dissenting opinions as they work toward building the “beloved community” that Martin Luther King Jr. sought, according to The Times of Northwest Indiana in Munster. When faced with people who have differing views, it’s important to engage in dialogue rooted in facts and centered on a unifying topic, such as poverty or education, Jones told a virtual conference. “You have to find the common language of bringing people together and that common language is love, that common language is humanity.”
