Hotels left idle by the pandemic-driven downturn are finding new careers as offices, residential complexes and other facilities at the hands of eager commercial real estate companies. Conversion can be quick and smooth, but hurdles such as zoning and building codes must be surmounted, says John Cetra, whose CetraRuddy Architecture has done more than 40 makeovers.
