California hotel comeback falls off sharply, survey shows

The first half of this year saw a dramatic slowdown in California hospitality’s recovery from the pandemic, with hotel openings falling by 43% from the same period in 2021, according to a new report. Northern California fared only slightly better than the state overall, while the San Francisco Bay Area nearly equaled the total for last year’s first half, the monitoring company Atlas Hospitality Group found.
