Carnival Cruise Line Reaches Historic 10 Million Passenger Milestone From Galveston, Texas
Carnival Cruise Line has marked a significant achievement by becoming the first cruise operator to transport 10 million passengers from Galveston, Texas. This landmark event was celebrated as Marsha Taulton of Houston boarded the Carnival Breeze, becoming the 10 millionth guest to depart from Galveston. Accompanied by her husband, Paul, the Taultons were greeted by the ship’s captain, Isidoro Renda, and Rodger Rees, CEO and Port Director of Galveston Wharves.
Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, highlighted the importance of this milestone, stating, “This is an achievement that speaks to the success of our longstanding partnership with the port and the greater Galveston community. We are grateful to our guests who have sailed with us from Galveston over the past two decades, continually driving the popularity of this homeport forward. The future is certainly bright, as we’re delighted to welcome more guests aboard than ever before from this great city—next stop, 20 million!”
Since initiating year-round sailings from Galveston in 2000, Carnival has consistently expanded its operations. The recent addition of Carnival Jubilee in December and the upcoming introduction of Carnival Miracle later this year will increase the fleet to four ships based at Galveston. By the end of this year, Carnival anticipates a 20 percent increase in its capacity at Galveston, expecting to serve over 800,000 guests.
This milestone not only reflects Carnival Cruise Line’s enduring commitment to Galveston but also underscores its role as a major player in the cruising industry, setting the stage for continued growth and success from this vibrant Texan port.
