CDC steps up airport surveillance for Omicron variant

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said the agency is enhancing surveillance at four of the country’s busiest international airports amid rising concern about the Omicron variant, which has not been detected in the US. The agency is exploring additional measures, such as requiring COVID-19 tests to be taken closer to the time of flight and possible post-arrival testing and quarantine, Walensky said.
