The Coca-Cola Company has issued a mandate requiring that its outside legal counsel staff at least 30% of its agenda with BIPOC attorneys, and at least half of the billable time be given to Black attorneys, or they risk losing 30% of their legal fees. “The Coca-Cola Company can’t create enough demand by itself, so I am hoping that this will be something that other corporate law departments want to do so that we can collectively create the demand that’s required,” says Bradley Gayton, the company’s general counsel.
