Colombia’s Líneas Aéreas Suramericanas to add B737-400(F)
Líneas Aéreas Suramericanas (4L, Bogotá) is planning to add its first B737-400(F) in the third quarter of 2021 and possibly another one in 2022 as it looks to increase its capacity, Cargo Facts has reported. The airline did not disclose the identity of the -400(F) but said that it would use the type to replace its two oldest B727-200(F)s – HK-4262 (msn 21427) and HK-4401 (msn 22609)- which are 43.8 and 40.3 years old, respectively, and which it plans to sell. The other two B727s, HK-4636 (msn 22927) and HK-4637 (msn 22928), are both 37.9 years old and will continue to operate for another few years. Besides the four B727s.
LAS also currently operates a single 22.6-year-old B737-300(F). “They provide a good lift in the markets that we serve. So we will keep those for a while, but the idea is then to transition into B737NGs in the next two years,” Chief Executive Frederic Jacobsen said. The Colombian cargo specialist plans to induct two B737-800(BCF)s. Although it holds conversion slots for the aircraft, it had to delay induction to the second half of 2022 due to a lack of available feedstock.
