Croatia Airlines to lease six Airbus A220 aircraft from ALC
Air Lease Corporation (ALC) has announced the long-term lease of six new Airbus A220 aircraft by Croatia Airlines.
The placements include four A220-300s and two A220-100s and should be delivered between 2024 and 2025.
“We are pleased to announce this lease placement for six new Airbus A220 aircraft with Croatia Airlines,” said Steven F. Udvar-Házy, Executive Chairman of Air Lease Corporation. “ALC looks forward to a successful long-term relationship with Croatia Airlines as the airline modernizes and expands its fleet with the newest and most fuel-efficient jets.”
These new aircraft will add to the fleet of six A220-300s that Croatia Airlines already ordered directly from Airbus in November 2022. Three more aircraft are expected to be leased by the Croatian flag carrier, which harbors ambitious plans to operate a single-type fleet by 2026.
“By flying new and higher-quality aircraft whose capacity will be in the market segment of 100 to 150 passenger seats, we will be able to meet the specific needs of our passengers in a much better way,” Jasmin Bajić, CEO and President of the Management Board of Croatia Airlines, said during the signing of the order with Airbus. “In turn, this will, I am convinced, ensure the development of an even more efficient business model, thanks to which additional business opportunities will open up to the company.”
According to its website, Croatia Airlines currently operates a fleet of six De Havilland Dash-8 Q400s, five A319-100s, and two A320-200s.
