Crystal, a luxury cruise line renowned for its elegant voyages, has recently penned a Memorandum of Agreement with the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri to construct two new luxury ships, with an option for a third ship slated for delivery in 2032. This ambitious expansion aims to enhance Crystal’s service and fleet under the ownership of A&K Travel Group, which acquired the company in 2022.

The new vessels, each weighing 61,800 gross tons, are designed to accommodate 690 passengers in all-suite accommodations. Each suite will feature private verandas, and for the first time, the ships will introduce a special category exclusively for solo travelers. The design partnership for these sophisticated ships includes Studio Ibsen and Studio Gem, with a third architectural firm yet to be announced.

Set for delivery in 2028, these ships promise to continue Crystal’s legacy of luxury cruising, with facilities like a ship-wide promenade, diverse dining options including the only Nobu restaurants at sea, a casino, a spa and fitness center, and a family area. Both ships are designed to mirror the high standards of existing Crystal ships, such as the recently refurbished Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity.

Christina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group, emphasized the goal of these new vessels: “Our aim is to continue setting a new standard in cruising, offering our guests an unmatched level of service and sophistication. These new ships will receive the same level of attention I have reserved for my own house.”

The expansion signifies a robust recovery in the cruise sector and highlights Fincantieri’s continued leadership in shipbuilding. Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri, noted, “This order not only highlights the robust recovery of the cruise sector, in line with our Industrial Plan, but also reaffirms Fincantieri’s leadership, thanks to the operational excellence of our shipyards and the execution quality of our world-class supply chain.”

The partnership between Crystal and Fincantieri, supported by industry giants such as Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, marks a significant step in luxury cruising, promising innovative design and exceptional quality for Crystal’s discerning clientele.
