Cunard Announces Shore Excursions for South America

Cunard has announced its highly anticipated return to South America next year, offering guests the opportunity to experience up to five-day shore excursions during its 78-night South America Discovery voyage aboard Queen Victoria. This marks the luxury cruise line’s first operation in the region since 2020, with the voyage set to depart from Southampton on January 9, 2025.

The South America Discovery voyage will take travelers to a variety of iconic destinations, including Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Patagonia, the Chilean fjords, Callao, and Salvador. Cunard’s extensive range of excursions allows guests to immerse themselves in the rich culture, history, and stunning landscapes of these remarkable locations.

Some of the standout excursions include:

Four-day Overland to Machu Picchu: This unforgettable journey leads travelers into the Andes to visit the ancient Incan site of Machu Picchu. Guests will engage with locals in an Andean village, followed by a scenic train ride to the fortress. The excursion also includes visits to the sacred site of Koricancha and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman.

Five-day Overland to Galapagos: Adventurers can explore the unique wildlife of the Galapagos Islands. The itinerary includes a full-day boat trip, allowing guests to visit various islands such as Bartolome, Seymour, and Santa Fe. The experience culminates with a visit to the Twin Craters in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island.

Four-day Iguazu Falls: Guests will embark on a panoramic tour of Salvador before engaging in thrilling activities such as white-water rafting and helicopter trips over the Iguazu gorge. The excursion includes visits to both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides of the falls, offering stunning scenic walks.

Snapshot of Salvador: This city tour highlights key sights including Carlos Gomes Avenue and Campo Grande Square, providing guests with an overview of Salvador’s rich culture and history.

Grand Tour of Lima: Guests will enjoy a scenic drive to the Plaza Mayor and visit the historic Santo Domingo Convent before exploring the modern suburbs of San Isidro and Miraflores.

Off the Beaten Track to Codpa Village: This unique excursion takes travelers through the Atacama Desert, allowing them to sample Pintatani wine in Codpa Village and enjoy a guided walking tour.

Best of Rio: This guided tour offers a cable car ride to Sugar Loaf Mountain, scenic views of Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, and a visit to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue via cogwheel railway.

Copacabana Beach: Guests can unwind on Copacabana Beach for approximately five hours, enjoying the sun and vibrant atmosphere.

Sunset Schooner Cruise: A three-hour cruise along Rio’s coastline provides stunning views of Sugar Loaf Mountain and the Niterói beaches.

Highlights of Montecristi and Manta: This guided tour showcases Montecristi, known for its Toquilla hats, including a weaving demonstration.

Sights of Buenos Aires and Dinner and Tango Show: This comprehensive tour of the Argentinian capital concludes with an authentic dinner and tango show.
