Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Treasure, has officially arrived at Port Canaveral, Florida, marking a significant milestone for the cruise line. The 4,000-guest vessel sailed from Eemshaven, Netherlands, making an unexpected detour to rescue multiple people from a sinking catamaran off the coast of Bermuda during its journey. This compassionate act highlighted the cruise ship’s commitment to safety and service even before its maiden voyage.

Disney Treasure’s Christening Ceremony and Upcoming Voyages
Following its arrival in Port Canaveral, the Disney Treasure will head to New York City for its christening ceremony on November 19, 2024. The event, which will celebrate the ship’s debut, will be live-streamed on the Disney Parks Blog starting at 8 p.m. EST. After the ceremony in New York, the ship will sail back to Florida to prepare for its maiden voyage, which is scheduled for December 21, 2024. The inaugural cruise will be a 7-night Eastern Caribbean itinerary, marking the beginning of regular sailings to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Port Canaveral.

A Unique Tribute to Disney Employees
In an unprecedented move, Disney announced that the godparents of the Disney Treasure would be the more than 200,000 Disney employees worldwide. This includes cast members, crew, Imagineers, and other employees who help bring the magic to life for Disney guests. Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, shared his thoughts on the honor: “At the core of everything we do at Disney are the dedicated Cast Members and employees who create the magic that brings joy to millions of people around the globe. That’s why we are proud to honor all Disney employees as the godparents of the Disney Treasure.”

Disney Treasure’s Design and Features
The Disney Treasure boasts a vibrant design that includes beloved characters and stories from Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars. Among the highlights is the Broadway-style production, Disney The Tale of Moana, and a theatrical dining experience inspired by the Disney-Pixar film Coco. The ship’s design ensures that every corner of the vessel is infused with Disney magic, offering immersive experiences for both children and adults.

Treasure Tomorrow: Supporting Port Cities
Disney Cruise Line is also introducing Treasure Tomorrow, a new initiative to support the communities in the port cities it visits. One example of this initiative is the career exploration programs in Brevard County, Florida, sponsored by Disney Cruise Line in partnership with the Brevard Schools Foundation. This initiative reflects Disney’s commitment to giving back to the communities it touches, creating a lasting impact in the regions where its ships dock.

With the Disney Treasure now officially in Port Canaveral and preparations underway for its inaugural sailings, Disney Cruise Line continues to set the standard for family-friendly luxury cruises. The combination of exciting new features, a focus on community involvement, and the inclusion of Disney employees as godparents make this ship a special addition to the fleet, promising unforgettable experiences for all who sail aboard.
