Disputed Hyatt Place plan approved in Portland, Ore.

The Portland, Ore., City Council rejected a citizens group’s remonstrance against a proposed 23-story Hyatt Place hotel in Central City. Pearl Neighbors for Integrity in Design argued that the building’s height breached guidelines for the cityscape, but Mayor Ted Wheeler noted that it conforms with the city’s long-term development plan.
