In a developing case on the island of Dominica, two American-born residents, Jonathan Scott Lehrer and Robert Snider Jr., have been arrested and remanded to Dominica State Prison on murder charges related to the deaths of Coulibri Ridge resort owners Daniel Langlois and Dominique Marchand.

The charges allege that Lehrer and Snider killed Langlois and Marchand between November 29 and December 2, 2023, near Bois Cotlette, a 53-acre property in Soufriere owned by Lehrer. The victims’ charred remains were discovered in a vehicle in Soufriere on November 29, with the bodies too badly consumed by fire to be immediately identified.

Lehrer and Snider are scheduled to appear in court on March 15, 2024, marking the beginning of the preliminary inquiry into the deaths. The police investigation initially led to the arrest of Lehrer, his wife, Snider, and another Dominican man. However, charges were filed only against Lehrer and Snider Jr.

The incident unfolds against a backdrop of a long-standing dispute between Langlois and Lehrer over the usage of the Morne Rouge Public Road, which traverses Bois Cotlette. The nature of this dispute may play a role in the ongoing investigation.

As the case progresses, Dominica awaits further developments and information surrounding the tragic events that unfolded at Coulibri Ridge, a resort marred by the loss of its owners.
