Emirates Invests $48M in A350 Pilot and Crew Training
In preparation for the arrival of its first Airbus A350-900, Emirates has invested $48 million in state-of-the-art pilot and cabin crew training equipment. This investment includes three full-motion flight simulators, a fixed base training device, and cabin emergency evacuation and door trainers.
The first of the A350 full-flight simulators is already operational, while the second is awaiting EASA approval in November 2024. Emirates’ training suite also includes a Pilot Support System (PSS), which allows for immersive flight deck setups and real-time session playback for performance reviews.
By November 2024, more than 50 pilots will have completed their A350 training, with 30 pilots and 820 cabin crew already trained. These efforts will support the arrival of Emirates’ first A350 aircraft, which has begun flight testing at Airbus’ Toulouse facility.
Looking ahead, Emirates has 65 A350-900s and 205 Boeing 777Xs on order, aligning with the airline’s expansion goals. The airline is also set to open an advanced pilot training facility by the end of 2024, featuring six full-flight simulator bays for the A350 and Boeing 777X, contributing to over 130,000 training hours annually.
