Etihad Cargo has unveiled SecureTech, its latest premium product innovation, designed to meet the increasing demand for the secure transportation of consumer electronics. This new service is crafted in response to customer and partner feedback, emphasizing the need for a solution that addresses the unique challenges of shipping high-value electronic devices efficiently and safely.

SecureTech incorporates several security measures to protect shipments throughout their journey. This includes monitored build-up and break-down of palettes in secure areas, constant surveillance by security staff or CCTV, and restricted access to authorized personnel only, ensuring the highest level of security for transported goods.

The service places a strong emphasis on the safe transport of devices powered by lithium batteries, recognized for their potential safety hazards if not managed properly. Etihad Cargo’s commitment to safety is further evidenced by its achievement of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators in Lithium Batteries (CEIV Li-batt) certification. This prestigious certification underscores Etihad Cargo’s dedication to adhering to the highest safety standards in lithium battery shipment, supported by advanced safety management systems and specialized equipment.

Etihad Cargo’s efforts extend to its team, with comprehensive training programs on the safe and secure handling of lithium batteries, alongside meticulous documentation and packaging checks. Leonard Rodrigues, Acting Managing Director at Etihad Cargo, highlighted the carrier’s expertise in managing specialized shipments and its readiness to address the complexities of transporting lithium battery-powered electronics.

The introduction of SecureTech is timed with a noticeable rise in consumer electronics shipments, particularly mobile phones from India, reflecting a broader trend in electronic exports. Rodrigues pointed to India’s significant electronic export figures, with mobile phones constituting a major portion of these exports. The launch of SecureTech, coupled with strategic route expansions and increased flight frequencies, positions Etihad Cargo to effectively cater to the booming demand for electronic shipments, ensuring reliable and secure delivery to global destinations.
