The Federal Aviation Administration has launched an Airport Climate Challenge with a goal of net-zero emissions by 2050, offering airports a variety of grants for initiatives such as low-emission vehicles and renewable energy production by 2050. “The United States should not only have the safest and most efficient aerospace system in the world, it can and should be the most environmentally sustainable as well,” said Shannetta Griffin, the FAA’s associate administrator for airports.
