FAA urges prosecution of unruly passengers, limits on alcohol
Following the serious rise in unruly passenger behavior on aircraft, FAA Administrator Steve Dickson sent a letter to airport managers urging them to encourage local law enforcement to pursue criminal cases against passengers accused of unruly behavior intercepted at airports. Dickson also encouraged that airport vendors cease allowing alcohol to-go containers for passengers to carry on flights. “Passengers believe they can carry that alcohol onto their flights or they become inebriated,” Dickson said in the letter. “Airports can help bring awareness to this prohibition on passengers carrying open alcohol onboard their flights through signage, public service announcements, and concessionaire education.”
