Fears spur call on hotels to shut down for inauguration

Hoteliers in the Washington, D.C., area are being urged by political activists, neighborhood groups and labor organizations to close next week in light of health and safety concerns surrounding the presidential inauguration. Some petitioners are asking Mayor Muriel Bowser to use her emergency powers to close hotels or impose strict health and safety terms.
