FedEx celebrates all-Black female crewed flight
FedEx celebrated its first all-Black female flight crew to pilot a FedEx flight as Phoenix-based pilot Tahirah Brown and first officer Diana Lugemwa completed a flight from Memphis, Tenn., to Atlanta. Brown, who has flown for 26 years, became the first Black female pilot for FedEx in 2002 and hopes to inspire others. “I’m showing them something they hadn’t seen before so it’s critical to know that, ‘Hey if this person can do this, I can do this,'” Brown said. Brown added that she hopes her story will encourage more young women to pursue a career in aviation.
