Fly Sirius Launches Business Jet Operations in India with Inaugural Flight

India’s aviation landscape has a new entrant, Fly Sirius, which successfully commenced its business jet operations with a revenue flight on July 23. The service, a roundtrip between Delhi International and Ahmedabad, was carried out using a Hawker 4000, now registered as VT-KVR (msn RC-50).

Fly Sirius, a joint venture between Airavat Aviation and Sirius India Airlines Pvt. Ltd., is stepping into a market ripe with potential. Airavat Aviation is part of the Dubai-based Transworld Group with access to additional aircraft, while Sirius India Airlines has strong ties within the aviation industry, including connections to two former executives from SpiceJet, ex-COO Arun Kashyap and ex-CCO Shilpa Bhatia.

In a recent discussion with SP’s Aviation, Kashyap highlighted the underserved nature of the Indian charter market and the considerable opportunity for growth. “The private charter segment in India holds immense potential,” he stated. “Despite increasing competition, there is significant room for new entrants to provide innovative and exclusive travel experiences.” He also noted the growing affluent class and rising business travel needs as positive indicators for the sector.

Currently, Fly Sirius operates with a single Hawker 4000 but plans to expand its fleet with a second aircraft expected in September 2024 and a third in February 2025, leveraging Airavat’s existing resources.

As of now, ADS-B flight tracking data indicates that VT-KVR has not been active since its inaugural flight on July 23. This marks a cautious start for Fly Sirius as it positions itself to cater to the luxury travel needs and business jet requirements of India’s burgeoning elite and corporate sectors.
