Flyv, an emerging name in regional mobility, has unveiled ambitious plans to commence operations by 2025. The startup’s mission is to offer on-demand flights, bridging the gap between unlinked airports. Specifically tailored for distances ranging from 100 km to 900 km, Flyv aspires to transform regional air travel into a sustainable, efficient, and swift alternative by tapping into the potential of existing infrastructure.

Speaking at the recent Routes World conference in Istanbul, Tomislav Lang, the Founder and Managing Director of Flyv, shared the inspiration behind the venture. According to him, Flyv was conceived out of the need to rejuvenate regional air connectivity, focusing on airports that are presently unconnected but are poised to be pivotal connectivity nodes in the future. But Flyv isn’t just about connectivity; it’s about smart, customer-driven connectivity. Lang emphasized how, by leveraging sophisticated algorithms and artificial intelligence, Flyv aims to revolutionize on-demand travel, where customers play an active role in shaping their travel dynamics.

Flyv’s journey will commence with the nine-seater Tecnam P2012 Traveller, an aircraft known for its efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Moreover, the company has entered a strategic association with U.S.-based electric aircraft pioneers, Eviation. This collaboration entails a commitment from Eviation to supply as many as 25 nine-seater electric aircraft, with the induction planned post-2030. By 2030, Flyv envisions a robust fleet comprising a minimum of 135 aircraft.

In terms of customer experience, Flyv promises a seamless and dynamic booking process. Passengers can input their ideal flight timings in the app. Interestingly, those offering more flexible time windows stand to gain with reduced ticket prices. Here’s where Flyv’s advanced algorithm comes into play, adjusting the daily flight roster based on real-time demand. Passengers will be privy to their exact travel itinerary a clear three days before their scheduled flight. A typical Flyv journey would span between 40 to 60 minutes. The operational financials look promising too, with the company anticipating that their operational costs will remain within a cap of €900 ($950) for every flight hour.
