Chef Yia Vang traveled full circle from trying to assimilate to American culture in his youth to now embracing his roots, prepping to launch his first Hmong eatery Vinai in Minneapolis. “People need to know us not through their own preconceptions but through the food that’s close to our heart,” said Vang.
