Passenger traffic at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) in October 2022 reached 755,000, representing a surge of 447.9% on the same month last year.

Passenger volume in October 2022 returned to around 13% of pre-pandemic levels.

The growth in passenger throughput was mainly driven by increases in both Hong Kong resident and visitor traffic due to the relaxation of local quarantine measures. Passenger traffic to and from Southeast Asia experienced the most significant increase.

In the first 10 months of the year, HKIA handled 3 million passengers, an increase of 179% compared to the same period in 2021.

On a 12-month rolling basis, the airport handled 3.3 million passengers, marking 162.6% year-on-year growth.
