Hotel chain loses pandemic insurance claim

Ceres Enterprises, which owns hotels in Indiana, Minnesota and Ohio, lost its appeal over a COVID-related business insurance claim filed with Travelers Insurance Co. The company said its business was interrupted by the pandemic but a federal district court in Cleveland sided with the insurance company that it had not breached its contract by denying claim, saying the mere presence of the virus on the premises did not constitute a physical loss.
