Hotel quarantine crisis spurs Australia entry reduction

Stress to its coronavirus hotel quarantine system wrought by emergence of the highly contagious delta variant has prompted Australia to slash permissible visits from overseas by half, to about 3,000 a week. The country closed its doors last year largely to non-citizens and mandated that permanent residents and returning Australian travelers, except those leaving New Zealand, must quarantine in hotels for two weeks.
