Hoteliers weigh future of a la carte fees

Charging extra fees for amenities historically expected by guests as part of room rates will become more common as hotels make up revenue lost to the pandemic, but caveats loom and high-end operators are especially leery. “COVID, as devastating as it has been, provided opportunities to re-evaluate all amenities — those intended to be inclusive in the room rate and those that should be monetized at 100% of cost up to profit,” says Remington Hotels CEO Sloan Dean III.
