Hotels-for-homeless effort won’t grow, L.A. County says
Los Angeles County officials have decided not to expand a program using hotels to house homeless people at risk of contracting COVID-19, saying increased federal remibursement under the Biden administration is outweighed by lengthy lag time in receiving it. The county was renting 12 hotels with 1,350 rooms through Project Roomkey as of last month, and intends to keep 11 of the 12 sites open through September at the latest.
