Hotels to NYC mayor: Lift tax penalty, save our future

Major brands have joined with smaller properties in beseeching Mayor Bill de Blasio to relieve the devastated New York City hotel industry of a steep penalty for late property tax payments. “You’re just going to have hotels go belly up permanently if you charge 18% on top of a property tax that’s already a struggle to pay,” said Vijay Dandapani of the Hotel Association of New York City.
