IATA exec: A year insufficient to refit planes for 5G

Nick Careen, senior vice-president of operations, safety and security at the International Air Transport Association, backed the assertion of US airlines that a year is not enough time to refit aircraft with equipment safe from interference due to 5G wireless service. “The manufacturers won’t commit to this date,” he said, and if the problem is not solved, there will be “massive disruption to our networks in July next year.”
