Icelandair Strengthens Global Connectivity
Icelandair, the national carrier of Iceland, operates from its hub at Keflavik International Airport. As part of the Icelandair Group, a publicly-traded travel company headquartered in Reykjavik, Icelandair strategically leverages Iceland’s unique geographical location to build an extensive international route network connecting North America and Europe. This strategic positioning has allowed the airline to grow its network steadily over the years.
In March 2020, Icelandair integrated Air Iceland Connect into its operations. While the air operator’s certificate of Air Iceland Connect remained separate, its crew members continued their employment under the new structure. By March 9, 2021, Icelandair announced the full merger of Air Iceland Connect into Icelandair, effective March 16, 2021, with both networks operating under the unified Icelandair brand.
